Superbowl Foods to Try

January 28, 2011Katie

Superbowl XLV between the Packers and the Steelers is coming up!  Who are you rooting for?

Or are you like most of my lady friends who just watch the commercials and make great food?

Or maybe you’re a guy, and this is your favorite night of the year..

Next to the college National Championship and the World Series or whatever that sport is where the guys are in a cage beating the living daylights out of each other.

Here are some big hits at our house that you might want to fix at yours.  Go right ahead and click on the picture to go to the post and recipe if you see something you fancy.

Spicy Southwest Pretzels.  The bowl will be gone before you know it.

Unforgettable Salsa.  You can whip this up in your food processor in less than 5 minutes.

Shawn’s Sausage Rolls.  No explanation needed.  Just addictive.

Kicked Up Hummus.  An actual healthy option that has some heat to it!

Guacamole.  You make this in a plastic baggy.  Super easy.  No fuss.  Superb!

Black Bean Salsa or Oklahoma Caviar baby!  Again lots of veggies, super delicious and will go fast!

Gonna make burgers?  I have two options.  For the guys who want all the flavor and fat…Try my All-American Burgers with bacon mixed into the meat and a surprise of Smoked Cheddar Cheese in the middle.

Or if you’re being calorie and health conscious, try this flavorful and trim Garden Turkey Burger.

Feeding a crowd? Try this Lean Mean Game Day Chili.  Shhh, don’t tell anyone that it’s very healthy.  They’ll never know.

Another great dish for a crowd.  Super easy and economical – The Easiest Brisket Ever (or for even less cost, try using a pork roast or shoulder on sale for The Easiest Pulled Pork Ever).

This would fabulous with some good toasty buns and a side dish of BBQ sauce.

And for a side…My Favorite Potato Salad Ever.  Roasted red potatoes, bacon and caramalized onions in a creamy sauce.  Yum.

For a different kind of potato tried my Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges.

And for dessert?  Try this Mississippi Mud Cake.  It’ll feed a crowd and it’s ooey gooey goodness.

And still at the top of my list…my Triple Cinnamon Snickerdoodle Bars.

These are but a few ideas from my growing library of recipes here on Dishin & Dishes.  I hope this helps those out there searching…

Happy Game Day to you all.  Eat well, cheer loud…and watch those commercials by gosh!
