The View Inside My Daughter's Car
This week I drove my daughter’s car. She had parked me in and I had a quick errand to run so I just grabbed her keys.
I started looking around. Here’s a little of what I saw.
There is a stuffed monkey stuck through her glove compartment handle. She drives a VW bug so there are flowers I bought her for Valentines’s Day in the bud vase on the dash. There is another stuffed animal hanging from her keychain. Perhaps most random is the wirey little man hanging from her rearview mirror.
Me: Kayla – what is that wiry man thing hanging from your rearview mirror?
Her: Mom, it’s a magnet and when I pulled up somewhere the other day and I came back, it was stuck to the bottom of my car.
Me: So you hung it from your rearview mirror? Do you have any idea where that thing may have been?
Her: (Silly smile and shrug)
And there was no comment from the peanut gallery.
One thing I truly love that embodies her character…
#1 -This picture she picked up on her last mission trip to Haiti. It sits on her monstrous dashboard. How can a little bug car like that have such a HUGE dashboard?
#2 – This handmade cross with a scripture written on it.
What is Luke 9:23 you ask?
Luke 9:23 (NIV)
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
Or to be read it in today’s updated language, and most appropriately termed, here is the Message version:
Luke 9:23 (The Message)
Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am.
This verse is lived daily by this young lady of faith. If you would like to hear some of her God-inspired thoughts, please click here to visit her new blog –experiencingHIM.
Now, I wonder if she remembers God is in the driver’s seat with her and she shouldn’t be texting or speeding ?
