The Perfect Chair

I just love it when a plan comes together.

Remember that line? Name that show!   (I am really dating myself here.)  I’ll give you a hint.  It was from the 80’s (the best era ever) and featured a rather large man with multiple strands of gold around his neck.

Do you ever have that piece of furniture just playing around in your thoughts? You know, an image you form in your mind?  The perfect chair to go perfectly at the little  side-table in your college-age daughter’s room where she keeps her laptop?

I had this little vision playing around in my thoughts recently.  Usually, my visions don’t become realities, so imagine my surprise, when, we walked into a little antique store on our lunch hour the other day… and I saw it.

The Perfect Chair.

Okay, maybe not in its current state.

I knew, however, in my own secret imagination, that it was soon to be a treasure, a masterpiece that would fit perfectly with the little long narrow table we intended it to sit at.

We stripped it.  We sanded it.  We painted it a beautiful glossy black.  We removed 3 million staples, done I suppose, by the previous owner.

Sidenote: when I say “we”, you know don’t you, that Mr. Wonderful is the majority part of “we”?  He did a lot of this and I love him for it.

I shopped for the fabric I had seen in my thoughts and guess what?

I actually found it!

I wanted you to share in my perfect find…

The back was a bit troublesome and gave Mr. Wonderful some difficulty. It had to be pulled through and attached from behind.

We added some cute trim.

There’s just something about a makeover that you do yourself that is so fulfilling.

Our perfect little chair.  I adore it.

That.is.awesome! How come my visions of perfection don't make appearances on my shopping trips?
