The Meat House Now Open!
A few months back I told you about a brand new neighborhood butcher shop coming to Edmond. I waxed poetic about the exciting concept The Meat House would be bringing to the Oklahoma City market over the next few years with opening up several stores.
Well, maybe I’m not exactly poetic…but hear this…
The Edmond store is now open as of Monday, November 7th!
(Watch the video of the guys coming on my Rise & Shine segment by clicking Play below!)
I was pleasantly surprised at the nice size of the interior of the store, although James Kraham, the owner, mentioned that this will be a bit smaller than the store they are currently working on opening in Moore, so you people down south? You’re gonna love it when yours opens!
Speaking of James, meet some of the driving forces behind The Meat House in Edmond.
From left to right – that’s Jason Hill, Store Manager. And in the center – that’s James Kraham, store owner…and next to him is Danny Crowell, the Regional Training Manager.
Let’s see just a little of what The Meat House has to offer Oklahoma.
First off, it’s a given. You’re going to find meat…and lots of it. Meat is the rock star of the show here at The Meat House…obviously right?
What was James holding up there in that picture? Aged prime beef, that’s what…this is what you get in those high star steak house ladies and gentlemen…and you too can make it at home now.
There are premium cold cuts and cheese by Boars Head in the deli case. Of course they can be sliced to order. You’ll see some things you might not see at your neighborhood grocery store …like Head Cheese.
Moving on. This glass case was very exciting. This is the Meat House’s marinated meat section. There are things like chicken marinated with lemon pepper, sun-dried tomato marinated chicken or burgundy marinated steak. These are ready for you to take home and toss on your backyard grill for a fabulous dinner party or just family dinner in no time flat. Mango bourbon steak tips? I am thinking yes….yes please!
And if that weren’t delectable enough? Look at these babies.
There are also stuffed marinated meats like Asparagus and Cheddar Stuffed Chicken, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Broccoli Cheddar stuffed Chicken. Also ready for you to take home and enjoy with a moment’s notice!
Yes, I believe I will take one of each please. Yes I will.
And this? This case will be packed full of fresh cut steaks and meats.
I missed the meat cutting as I was there the day before the opening …but James told me they get a lot of local meat here in Oklahoma and that’s a plus…a big one.
And underneath the fresh cut meat counter on shelves? Every sauce and marinade for meat you can dream of.
My kids fav – Head Country BBQ was there – and did you know it’s from Oklahoma? If I run out of that stuff, my kids let me know about it and quick. I even spied Daddy Hinkle’s Marinades and rubs – a local Okie fav of mine…and some of the nicest people you’ll meet!
And speaking of stuffed meat, there are also fresh stuffed meats.
Steak rolled and stuffedwith capicola, pepperoni, provolone and I think Mozzarella. I just couldn’t stop staring at this. I am thinking how fun this would be to fix for our kids for Christmas dinner.
However, I was torn between that and this.
Rolled pork loin stuff with goat cheese, asparagus, red and yellow peppers and deliciousness.
How about sausage? Whether you prefer chorizo, kolbasse or andouille, this is the place to get it.
But if you’d rather have a house-made bratwurst? This guy was there training the staff just how to do it right.
Not a beef or pig fan? The Meat House has seafood. Glorious seafood.
Ahi tuna, wild caught salmon…and look at that giant lovely piece of sea bass…not to mention oysters, clams and mussels. James reveled me in the “fish tale” of them having some live king crab flown in …only it wasn’t a tale…it’s true. And I’d like to be around for the arrival of that flight.
And I would be remiss in not showing you the exotic meats…things like buffalo, pheasant, frog legs and alligator.
Guess what though? There is more than meat.
There is a bevy of local products on display and for sale…too many to go into detail over..
And I saw A LOT of those signs…
This freshly made pasta from Oklahoma City’s Della Terra looked and smelled like heaven. With Scaffetta’s locally made pasta sauces? What a perfect meal that would be!
Cheese and meat from Krebs, pasta sauce from Scaffetta’s, fresh pasta from Oklahoma City, cheese from Kingfisher and others, many others. If you want to support local products, you will have your chance here.
There is this little nook in the store with Greek olive oil, fancy balsamics and that empty wooden shelve will daily house Prairie Thunder locally baked fresh breads.
How about marinated artichoke hearts, stuffed olives and peppers?
They’re here, oh yes they are.
Of note that I loved…The Meat House is supporting local places with charitable donations…you’ll notice the board and calendar when you walk in the door.
This is truly a place that is supporting, enhancing and giving back to its community.
This Saturday, The Meat House is having it’s Grand Opening bash from 11-4. You do not want to miss this folks! I heard something about 1500 lbs of ribs being smoked. Mr. W and I will be there..and you should too..
You’re going to fall in love with The Meat House like we are…
And you’ll go back..again and again!
