Okay, so I’ve been hearing about S & B Burger Joint for months. S for Shannon, B for Brian…and the burgers…just the burgers.
Well, mostly about the burgers…but I needed to find out just what the hype was all about.
So when my friend, local food blogger Stephanie Bice and some out of town guests all met up on the same day, we decided to check it out.
S & B is on May Avenue. Find Best Buy, Home Depot and Guitar Center and then head out towards May towards this red brick building, and surprisingly enough that’s where S & B is housed. Specifically in the ground floor of this building.
When you see the patio umbrellas signifying dining al fresco, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
But you must enter through the main doors and the lobby of the building. and not the patio entrance. Otherwise I think you’ll get the backs of your hands rapped by a ruler or some other equally disturbing punishment. Okay, probably not, but there was a sign telling me to do so.
Inside is a small eclectic vision to take in. There is the standard bar.
Yes NASCAR was on TV and probably some sports game, but over in one corner we were having a good time with a bunch of gals from Oklahoma.
And we were browsing a menu of whattt?!!
Crazzzzy burger choices ..that’s what!
Just looking at the burger choices – the Fatty, the Skinny, the Colombian, the Elvis, each with a different eclectic variety of toppings, each one sounding so intriguingly delicious, I was confused, and bewildered which one to get. Pick from the choices already on menu or create your own from not your normal toppings and sauces.
Good news! At S & B Burger Joint, you can get burgers or you can get sliders…and I recommend you get 2-3 sliders in a variety of choices. That way you can taste more than one..cuz a normal burger is all you can handle. But try the sliders…and try the crazy ones….
Why? Because they’re wacko..and in a good way!
For instance, Steph ordered the Colombian (sea salt/coffee crusted patty with smoked cheddar, lettuce, red onion, avocado and cilantro lime salsa) and the Elvis (peanut butter on it, along with bacon, lettuce, tomato and red onion).
Yes, you heard me correctly. There was peanut butter…
On a burger.
Did you know peanut butter and bacon, oddly enough are a wonderful combination?
Yes, yes they are.
I had to order the Fire burger (roasted green chilies, fried onions and spicy ranch).
This was scrumptious…and I don’t know how else to describe it. But I loved.
There is more to the menu just the super tempting burger choices.
There are also crazy fry choices. McDonalds, this is NOT.
We ordered the Thanksgiving Fries.
Just in case you’re wondering, that picture is of sweet potato fries smothered in marshmallow creme and sprinkled with dried cranberries and pecans.
Yes, I’m still thinking about it a month later as I’m writing about this.
I think it was Lauri who ordered the p.b. & fry fries…well someone did..and it was evil.
Again, this was sweet potato fries, covered in warm peanut butter and peppery bacon crumbles. Again…yum.
I’m always a sucker for fried green beans.
These were really good, but ..people…order the fries…the fries you’ll get nowhere else! There are other crazy fries with things like ham, cordon bleu sauce, or how bout Ceaser Fries with parmesan cheese and sundried tomatoes?
Also, if you’re a soda lover (which I am not, yes…hate me…I have no idea why?), they have real Mexican cola, IBC Cream Soda and Root Beer and some other great drinks.
And then…sigh….we were full..but someone brought us these.
You see, S & B makes these sinfully delectable pies…
Peanut Butter.
Coconut.
And…wait for it….
Warm, gooey, S’Mores Pie.. I was sold immediately.
Graham Cracker Crust, chocolate, homemade marshmallow…
I want to go back…and tonight.
Looking for a fun place to take a date, your wife, your mom or your kids?
I think S & B Burger Joint fits the bill for any of the above.
Try them soon..you will want to go back.
