Pie Junkie – Slices of Deliciousness
I had my first divine bite of a Pie Junkie pie a year or so ago at S & B Buger Joint. At the time I described them as “sinfully delectable pies”. I remember our group just raving about them. I mean we loved the burgers, but we went nuts over these pies. Later on, I learned that the pies were made by one “Pie Junkie”.
Who is this Pie Junkie, I wondered, and were can I get those pies without only having to settle for a slice? I vaguely heard someone talk about a lady named Leslie, who baked the pies for S & B. I dreamed about them, I went back to S & B and took my husband and my kids and made sure we got pie at the end of our meal.
Time went on, and one evening while walking through the Plaza District, I saw a sign on the window of a storefront on 16th Street. “Pie Junkies opening soon”.
I was giddy with excitement I tell ya!
Ladies & Gents – I bring you Pie Junkies. Actually, Home of some of the most delicious pies you’ll ever taste.
Actually Pie Junkies boasts two great bakers – Darcy Schein and Leslie Coale-Mossman.
When one peach pie led to customers and owners clamoring for more at S & B, the ladies expanded into selling their pies to other Oklahoma City eateries like The Paramount, Coffee Slingers and Pizza 23.
Their creativeness knows no bounds as they come up with dozens of pie variations but only offer certains ones each day.
How about a Rock N Rumble (or the Peach Blueberry Crumble) pie names in honor of our beloved Oklahoma City Thunder and shown off with peaches and blueberries signifying the Thunders’ colors of orange and blue.
Or how about the Drunken Turtle?
This gooey pie has a layer of fudge, topped off a sprinkling of pecans and salted caramel nestled in a graham cracker crust.
There are mixed berry pies.
There is Peanut Butter Pie.
There is this crazy yumminess – Almond Joy Pie.
And this, one of the most memorable pies I remember from my first taste at S & B…..The S”More Pie.
AND, glory be, to provide the Plaza District with breakfast on the weekends, they are also making savory pies like this Tomato Pie and a Spinach and Bacon & Cheddar Quiche they were serving the day I went in.
You can even grab a frozen Chicken Pot Pie to take home to bake yourself for dinner.
Pie Junkie has a bright, airy and brilliant space including a pristine white background mixed with colorful punches of artwork and fabric. The artwork is done by one of the ladies’ husband and is fun and vibrant.
You can place orders with them for whole pies or take a gamble that there will be one for you in their coveted glass case by emailing them at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling at the number below! Go visit them in the Plaza District soon! And take your sweet tooth!
