seafood in foil on grill recipe

Ok BOY is this revolutionary and SIMPLE you guys!

Imagine a crab boil but done in just a few minutes on your grill, tailor-made to your preference on what’s inside.

If you know our family, you know crab boils are a regular around our house…next time we’ll add in a snow crab cluster or two, because if they are thawed, they would work great as well!

Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?

It’s not! We did this the other night and we were in love!

We made this recipe for two, but you could absolutely multiply it for however many folks you have to feed and do a crowd. I even think it’d be fun to put the ingredients out in bowls and let everyone make their own. What a great party idea!  And there is virtually little cleanup, especially if you just plop each foil packet on one of those heavy-duty oval paper plates and serve with plastic forks.

Like I said, we threw these together quickly. You DO need make sure your seafood is thawed and you’ll need to microwave the potato chunks first because seafood cooks fast and they’d be rock hard if you didn’t. But I’m telling you, toss everything into a tin foil packet topped with butter and Old Bay for eight whole minutes, and then hang out on the patio or deck with your foil packets savoring each delicious steamy bite!

When you’re done, toss the foil, plate and forks and there is virtually NO cleanup needed.

I’m telling you, it’s the perfect meal!

  • Add half of each into the middle of each packet - shrimp, potatoes, corn, clams, mussels, and sausage
  • Mix together butter, Old Bay in a bowl.
  • Divide evenly between each packet and using a spoon or knife add small dollops on over the top.
  • Place another square of foil over top and roll up the edges tightly as well as you can to seal.
  • Place on hot grill for four minutes
  • At the four minute mark, turn the packets over and grill an additional four minutes.
  • Remove with tongs to plate or platter (the long oval heavy duty paper plates work great)
  • Be very careful when unrolling sides because of the steam inside. Do a very small portion first and let release before doing the rest.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and additional melted butter if desired
