Devastation Over – Oklahoma Goes On

May 25, 2011Katie

This morning I was supposed to host a restaurant on my Dishin & Dishes segment on Rise & Shine Oklahoma. That seemed strangely inappropriate after yesterdays devastation throughout our state so we cancelled it.

I would like to say this morning that I am proud to be working for such a great TV station.  They were rockstars yesterday, keeping us informed by the minute as to what was happening.  I saw many who normally are in studio anchors and weathermen and women out in the crazy weather keeping us informed as to what was going on.

Here in Oklahoma City, we have some of the best, if not THE BEST weather people around.  We know to the minute and the intersection when a storm is going to hit.  These guys were out in helicopters and vans chasing storms and for those of us riveted to the television yesterday, I am for one am greatful that while the rest of were thinking where the best place was to take cover while watching 1/2 mile tornadoes bearing down on communities, these people were out making us aware, working long hours and letting us know what to expect.

If you’d like to see video of some of what we incurred yesterday, please visit KFOR’s website here.  And here is just one video from David Payne, who I see each week when I do my show that you can watch below.

I've been spending my internet time this morning checking on all my "friends" in OK. So glad everyone seems to have come through okay.

So glad that your station and your state made it through the storms.
