A Shower for the Bride to Be
A few weeks ago, we hosted a bridal shower for my daughter Tori’s BFF Hanna who within a month will marry the guy of her dreams- Lance.
Tori and Hanna have been friends since grade school and Hanna has always just been another child to us around this household. Here’s a picture of the bride to be and her maid of honor.
These two have lived life together, cried and laughed together for so many years, I was thrilled to be able to host a special day for her.
We went with a cowgirl chic theme with loads of burlap and lace.
Above this centerpiece we had photos of the bride and groom along with X’s and O’s. Most of them involved them holding up stringers of fish they’d just caught. I tell you, they’re a country match made in heaven.
That ain’t no vase that those flowers are in! Them there are cowgirl boots and it took some work to arrange those but aren’t they just the bees knees?
As the girls arrived, Ms. Tori helped them over to the Mimosa Bar where there was a variety of fresh fruit, several flavors of juice and some champagne.
And we had other decorations too just in honor of the bride-to-be.
And I loved the photo booth we had set up ahead of time with a rustic chevron background.
Of course the night before Mr. Wonderful had to try it out.
We had plenty of signs, glasses and mustaches and lips on sticks for photo fun.
There were a few fun games that Tori had put together which involved lips and mustaches for “He Said She Said”.
And of COURSE there was food…
Food like Cowgirl Caviar, Curried Chicken Salad Croissants, White Pizza Dip and Sausage Rolls.
And these….tator tots wrapped in bacon, dipped in a mixture of brown sugar and chili powder and baked…oh my heavens. These were STUPENDOUS!
And there were sweets. Blonde Brownies, S’More Shots and Sugar Cookie Cups with Cream Cheese Frosting.
And for those who didn’t want Mimosa’s, we had the most divine Lemonade Punch in burlap and lace wrapped mason jars with chevron straws.
We also had a popcorn bar.
And I love this idea – Date Night Gems – where each person wrote a date night idea on a tongue depressor to be sent home with the bride for ideas for many romantic fun filled nights ahead.
And there were presents, and there was laughter and a really sweet time filled with friends and congratulations.
One or two minor glitches – the Thursday before the shower, my double ovens went kaput, as in – no digital readout, no power, NOTHING!
Blessings to our neighbors Matt & Tiffany who gave us free reign to their house while they were gone. Mr. Wonderful ran back across the street using their oven for a couple of hours.
Oh yes, and there was that little matter of waking up the morning of the shower to find out a pipe had burst behind our shower and the carpet was DRENCHED in the entryway hall leading into the room where the photo booth was set up….Mr. Wonderful built a “bridge” over the wet carpet with some wood from our garage and laid some towels down. Sigh.
But our motto was nothing could rain, er….soak our parade that day. Fun was had by all and the show went on!
Dearest Hanna, we wish you a long and blessed marriage to Lance. May all your dreams come true!
