We have a new daughter!!
Well, daughter in-law, but we’ve decided she’ll just be our daughter…we love her that much! Aren’t all brides beautiful, and well, just glowing?!
Who doesn’t love a wedding?
The seating of the Grandmothers.
The seating of the parents…
The moms lighting the candles.
The bridal party enters, assumes their positions and turns around, watching…
The groom is looking for her…
And then the song starts…everybody rises to their feet, and there she is…
The bride, the star of the moment, resplendent in her bejeweled satin gown, her softly-veiled face glowing with radiant beauty, the most gorgeous creature in the world, as her daddy walks her down the aisle.
No one is more beautiful than a bride on her wedding day.
I love to see the groom’s anxious face change from anticipation to silly-goofy mush when she walks in the door. I’ve seen grown men weep at this moment and I’ll never tire of seeing the freshness of young love on their first day of wedded bliss.
They pray together.
Take vows together.
And all the while, gazing into each other’s eyes as if there is no one else in the world.
Their best friends stand up with them.
Do you know what the definition of a real friend is?
It’s 3 girls that spend all day the day before the wedding decorating, and then stay after the wedding until almost midnight, helping to pack up all the wedding decorations and leftover food into cars and driving them over to the Bride’s mom’s house to unload. All of this long after the Bride and Groom have left for their honeymoon.
And one of them was due to have a baby in a couple weeks. TRUE friendship I tell ya!
The groomsmen helped until midnight too.
And speaking of the groomsmen. The Groom’s two best friends and brother also stood up for him.
There were ushers too. What a great looking bunch of young men!
Look at these innocent-looking young men. You’d never guess that when asked for the ring, they’d all turn around and look at each other in dismay.
Finally the back boy pulled out a Ring Pop and passed it up, much to the bewilderment of the Bride.
I honestly don’t think either of them had a clue this was going to happen.
Every wedding needs a little humor.
And speaking of humor, it’s almost always provided by the ring bearer or flower girl.
This adorable child kept us in stitches.
She knew she had a job. She took it very seriously.
Throwing rose petals lasted well into the ceremony, even while the Bride and Groom took communion. Even to the point of turning the basket over and shaking it real hard to get the last petal out.
Another great moment I love at weddings is when the preacher presents the couple as man and wife and gives them the okay to kiss.
Remember those innocent young groomsmen? They now passed up Tic-Tacs to the Groom, who was eagerly rubbing his hands together in glee.
Again…..pretty sure the Bride didn’t have a clue. But I think he (the groom) might have been in on this one. But ya know what?
She kissed him anyway.
What a great pre-cursor to marriage…loving someone in spite of their stinker tendencies to be a complete turkey!
Then the preacher announces the couple as Mr. and Mrs. I love this moment.
The Bride hears her new last name for the first time and beams with joy.
They practically float off of the platform and walk back down the aisle. Their new life is beginning.
But first, there is cake.
Isn’t cake a great way to begin a new life? I always think so, especially if it’s three layers of red-velvet, chocolate and vanilla goodness.
Congratulations to our wonderful, newly-married kids. May you be blessed your whole lives with the glow we saw you light up with today.
May you always look at each other with the same adoration we saw on your faces and the same anticipation we saw as you drove away for your honeymoon.
And may you always eat cake!
