S’Mores Fondue

Hey all, did you know that it’s one week until Valentine’s Day?

And what would Valentine’s Day be without chocolate?

Mr. Wonderful and I rarely go out on Valentine’s Day. We much prefer to stay home, set a beautiful table and be alone rather than wait with 100 other people in a lobby, then sit way too close for comfort with a bunch of other people in a restaurant.  But even if we do, we like to have dessert at home.

Dessert always involves chocolate and what better than to have all kinds of wonderful things dipped in warm chocolate?

How about S’Mores Chocolate? (Click Play below to watch the video of us making this on Rise & Shine!)

A scrumptious swirl of milk chocolate, melted marshmallow and a sprinkling of graham crackers with a hidden little surprise is the perfect thing to serve your honey this Sweetheart Day.

And it’s simple…really, REALLY simple.

Start out by taking one eight ounce package of milk chocolate chips and dumping them in a microwave safe bowl.

Put them into your microwave for one minute, then stir.  My microwave is super powerful, so it took less than 2 minutes to get this thing really melted.

This was after one minute.

After the first minute, microwave another 30 seconds, then stir again. That’s about all it took for me…mine was smooth and glossy at that point.

Scrape it into your fondue bowl…Mr. W got me this one one year for Valentine’s Day..its was inexpensive, cute and we’ve used it every year since. I almost like it as well as our electric one.

It operates off one single small votive candle.

Now grab some of this stuff.

My kids love this stuff…they used to make Peanut Butter Fluff sandwiches out of it and peanut butter when they were little.

Scoop in 1/4 of a cup.

Then for the naughty part.  Pour in two tablespoons of rum right on top of everything.

Then carefully light it with a long match or a long lighter, being very careful.

It will burn with a low blue flame for just a minute. That’s the alcohol cooking off!

Just don’t get your eyebrows too close.

While that’s burning take 2 graham crackers and put them inside a baggie.

Take a rolling pin and roll over these until they make fine crumbs.

Once the alcohol burns off, take a spoon and just swirl the marshmallow through the chocolate.

Then sprinkle on your graham cracker crumbs.

The only thing left to do now, is to put out your favorite dipping accessories.  I like strawberries (long stem are nice if you can find them), marshmallows, pound cake cubes, and thick pretzels.

And then dip away.

If your chocolate gets a little thick, you can thin it down with a  little bit of water.  But my guess is you won’t let it go that long.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope chocolate becomes a part of your day!
