Shawnee Mills Products

January 22, 2010Katie

I’m kind of embarrassed to say this.  I live in Oklahoma and always thought that Shawnee Mills was in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Not so.  Actually, the company has 7 facilities located …well…where the wheat grows in Oklahoma, in Arnett, Gage, Minco, Kingfisher, Okarche and Cashion.

Created in 1906 by J. Loyd Ford they are still operating under the leadership of the third generation of Ford family owners.

The capability to process several different kinds of wheat, corn and flour mixtures make them one of the leaders in baking products in the country. They also manufacture cattle feed and a by product of pet food.  In fact, their animal feed operation is one of the up and coming  and fastest growing plants in the southwest.

Some of their products include a variety of Corn Meal mixes, flours, muffin mixes and pancake and waffle mixes.  They also produce gravy  and pizza dough mixes.

I like to use their flour.  I like to support my local producers.  Some of the things I like to make with their flour – just click on the picture to see how it’s made…

Blueberry Crumble Bread.

Triple Cinnamon Snickerdoodle Bars.

Raspberry Buttermilk Cake

Ahhhh….Sticky Toffee Pudding.

My favorites – Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese-N-Spice Frosting.

Next time you’re in the shopping aisle looking for four, why not support Shawnee Mills?

It’s Oklahoma Made.

Just found your blog and will visit often. I thought Shawnee Mills was in Shawnee, too. At least, that's what I've been driving by for years. The Fords are a wonderful family here -- great community members and volunteers. Maybe you meant that it's in Shawnee plus the other six locations. We're proud of Shawnee Mills and their products!

Hi..I've been trying to locate somewhere I can buy Shawnee flour. It was my preferred brand until it became unavailable in FL. I just called the plant and learned that, to have 100# of flour shipped to me, it would cost $104 in freight! No can do.... Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a bunch... God bless Carolyn

The ingredients on the method page of your blog for Cream Cheese-n-Spice Pumpkin Cookies and the printable ingredients don't match. One has baking powder, one doesn't; one has nutmeg - the other doesn't, etc. What is the real recipe? Thanks!

We love Oklahoma( have family there) and love your products. I wish I could get them here in New York. I tried to get the local Tractor Supply store to order the pet food but they said they can only carry what the home office dictates. Wish the home office would order some!

Fantastic!! I am at the start of a "localizing" project in our home, trying to become more sustainable and self sufficient, and trying to buy what we cannot produce from our neighbors... what a great reminder! Thank you. : )

Hi, I would like to thank you for offering such wonderful products! We have always enjoyed the Shawnee Mills products in our home. I recently found myself with a very limited income after the death of my husband and would like to see if I could recieve some coupons by mail...I do not have a printer. If so, you could email me and I will gladly provide my address. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

My mama always used Shawnee flour for everything that called for flour. Leaving NC to live in NV, I just can't find this brand so far. Does anyone know if any stores in the Vegas area sells it?

Hello, I live in Georgia and no Shawnee products are sold here, as far as I know, so I was wondering was there someway I could order a bag of your Shawnee Cornmeal Mix which there's none to compare it to. I'm originally from Arkansas so when I visit there I always bring some back with me. It simply makes the best fried cornbread. My whole family swear by it. Please help.

After buying Shawnee Mills Honey Bran Muffin Mix for years, I can no longer find it in groceries around me. Is it still being made? If so, where might I find it?
