Oklahoma You're Doing Fine Kickoff
This is an idea from Ms. Cheryl at The Prarie Maid. She thought it’d be a great idea if one Friday a month, all us Oklahoma bloggers blogged about…well, Oklahoma.
I think I’ll begin by telling you that I was not born in Oklahoma, nor do I have childhood memories here. My marriage led me here from Michigan 20+ years ago.
Some of the greatest memories I have in Oklahoma have been on some of its lakes. A few years back, we bought a boat, and it has been a great family investment. It has brought kids of all ages in our family together.
Everyone loves to go out in the boat.
For 5 years, Mr. Wonderful and I have made it a point to have a date night every Tuesday. We love to take the boat out onto Lake Hefner. Sometimes we pack a picnic and sometimes we boat across to the restaurants on the East Wharf.
Did you know there are 3 restaurants on the East Wharf of Lake Hefner? There are also courtesy docks you can pull up to and either dine at the restaurant or order takeout and bring it back to your boat. In fact, one restaurant – Red Rock Canyon Grill will actually bring your food down to the dock.
There’s something wonderfully peaceful about dropping anchor, floating and just spending some quality time together in the beauty of God’s creation.
But when my husband caught the fishing bug, date night turned into something else.
Hmmmmm….
But seriously, we have visited several lakes in the past few years, and we cherish our weekends and times out with the kids on the boat. I encourage families to go camping, or boating just to get away from the technological craziness of the city and spend time with your family!
Thanks to Cheryl for kicking off this tradition for us Oklahoma bloggers. I hope I’m doing this correctly, and I’m sure we’ll all get more creative in time.
