Kayla's Personal Choice

Baptism.

I’ve always shared with my kids that this is a personal decision between them and God.  Oh, they were dedicated in the church when they were babies, but that was our decision, not theirs.

As actively involved in the church as I’ve always been, I always get  a kick out of it when someone gently (not always) chides me with the admonition…”Your kids aren’t BAPTIZED yet?”   To which I answer just as gently, “My children will be baptized when they make their faith their own, not mine”.

Last summer, God’s timing was perfect when Conner was baptized in the park by Pastor Dan, his mentor and youth pastor.  There is no one I would have had pull Conner up out of the water and the declaration that went with it, and God completely knew what He was doing there.

Kayla called me last night to let me know that she got baptized.  While being a little sad that I didn’t get to see, it really doesn’t matter because, like I said…it’s between her and Him.

I’m just glad I got a picture…albeit from a cell phone.
