Also, a computer thumb drive, a cookbook, recipe cards, a refrigerator magnet, a magnetic clip, a keychain (also of the Red Gold SSR car) and…
The stars of the show – the tomatoes! These tomatoes are delicious. They are grown in the midwest under great conditions for tomatoes and they’ve been around since 1942! I think you’ll love them if you try them! if you’d like to read more about them and their products, click here. If you’d like to have them at your stores and you don’t have them, suggest to your grocer to carry them!
While they sent a recipe book and cards, I opted instead to make Tomato Bisque with my tomatoes…
This was my grown up version of Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup! Dotted with basil pesto, it was delicious!
Red Gold also offered to host a giveaway for TWO of my lucky readers!
You will receive the same cute box of stuff that I did!
If you would like to enter the giveaway, just tell me what your favorite recipe is to make with canned tomatoes! You don’t have to give the full recipe, just the name! Shout it out to win!
The contest will end one week from today on Monday, October 10th at midnight (CST). The drawing will be held by random integer and you will need to leave your e-mail address to win so I can contact you. The two winners will be announced on October 11th, Tuesday by noon!

Canned tomatoes are a must in my hot sausage, lots of peppers, onions and mountains of tomatoes….then cook a side of macaroni and ladle the tangy sauce over it all to complete the perfect meal…melt a little provolone over the pasta…….mmmmm good………..maybe a little red wine to wash it down.

tomato gravy is a recipie I learned from my mother in law years ago in lousiana when she was teaching me to make the family favorites. you make a basic roux using your bacon or sausage grease, stir till nut brown. add 2 cans of stewed tomatoes (if you dont like chunks of tomatoes, you can put them in the blender first). Add a splash or 3 of worchestershire sauce and cook it on low for about 20 minutes. you can add small amounts of water until it is your preferred consistency. Serve over biscuits or toast. I thought is was the most disgusting thing I had ever heard of, but it really is delicious!
