Hot Dogs and Dogs – a Bad Combination

When I went to Michigan last month, we reveled in the cooler temperatures.  We spent a lot of time outside.

This is my dad…he’s the greatest.

My dad is not only a great Dad.  He’s a great griller.

He likes to fire up his Weber grill and when it’s just right.  He likes to grill up some steak, or chicken, or fish, or in the case of this night…

Michigan  Koegel Vienna hot dogs.

You have to understand that people from Michigan think they have the best hot dogs in the world.  Just ask Bob Ritchie, a.k.a. Kid Rock…he’ll tell ya.  Alebert Koegel got his training in meat in Germany, and after completing his apprenticeship, he moved back to the good ol’ U.S. to my hometown of Flint, Michigan and while as they say, “the rest is history”, I have loved these dogs for as long as I can remember…they are that good.

Anyway, my dad had some Koegel’s out on a small table next to his Weber while we were playing the new addictive lawn game …Ladders.

There they sat.

And along came a dog.

He sat.

He wriggled and stared…it was just more than a little shrimpy dog could stand.

And then he could stand it no longer..he moved in for the kill…

I came to my senses, stopped taking pictures and screamed “Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx! NO!” and the yard erupted into a furious pandemonium of adults chasing dog, the hotdogs were snatched out of reach…

And all was well in the land of dogs and hotdogs again.

The Koegels were saved.

I mean, I love my dog, but you don’t mess with the Koegels.

It’s not really a hot dog unless it “pops” when you bite into it-only Koegels Viennas
