It’s that time of year again! Time for my 12 Days of Christmas Foodie Wish List 2011!
If you have a foodie on your Christmas list, here are a few things I’d love to have and maybe they would too! Did I mention Foodies love to get things like this for Christmas? Mr. W is shaking his head right now, I guarantee you! He’s asking himself, where in the world would we put one more dish or gadget in our kitchen cupboards? Good question honey, maybe it’s time you start learning cabinetry making skills?
This list is always about dreaming big but being real so I will show some crazy cool expensive stuff, but also some affordable alternatives for the budget savvy shopper…
Let’s get started…On the first day of Christmas, my Foodie list gave to me…
The First Day – Reclaimed Cheese Slate Board from (Uncommon Goods $48)
I have one of these and the cool thing is that you can label your cheeses for your guests at your parties. This helps educate one on the different options of delectable cheeses out there!
Day #2 – Also from Uncommon Goods this Sushi Platter! ($50.00)
Developed by a New York City design collaborative, this ceramic platter is all set for sushi. The platter features two indentations for resting the included sets of chopsticks, a circular space for dipping and a bold white sheen, it’s a fashionable and functional accent each time you bring it out.
Day # 3 – Staub Mini Round Cocottes from Williams Sonoma in Red (4/$99.00)
I might be coveting Staub moreso than Le Creuset these days, but since I probably won’t get either (they are 4/$99!), I would settle for these cuties at a better price range…from Sam’s Club.
From Denmark Tools for Cooks Stoneware Cocottes (8/$19.99). Much better! Think of little chicken pot pies or au gratin potatoes in these! LOVE!

Day #4 – since Mr. Wonderful and I frequently entertain in our home, I would love to have this – the Bella Professional Oval Triple Slow Cooker with Lid Rests. (Sam’s Club $39.99)
No more worrying about hot pads on your counter or keeping dishes warming in the oven when having a party. Fix three things that can keep warm in these covered crock pots..or set three things to cook in them low and slow. Each has it’s own temperature control as well!
And while we’re on the subject of threes…look at this!
Day #5 –Chicago Metallic Lasagna Trio Pan ($19.99 Amazon) – for the picky eater family like ours – some like meat sauce, some alfredo, and some pesto…now you can make a variety of lasagnas all in one pan! You could even do a vegetarian version if you have a friend who doesn’t eat meat!
And while we’re talking Italian, this aged balsamic is the king-daddy for the foodie in your life.
Day #6- Acetaia Leonardi Saba balsamic vinegar ($53.99 on pastacheese.com)
This aged balsamic would be loved for special occasions and even a minute drop of it on your tongue will have your taste buds dancing with joy.
Day #7 – Italian Red Pasta Bowl Set ($79.95 from surlatable.com)
I think this set of 5 bowls are gorgeous…and they match my red kitchen.
Day #8 OXO Food Scale ($49.95 Williams Sonoma)
A must-have for any kitchen (or baker), the OXO Food Scale provides accurate digital readings and has large numbers with an optional backlight. Convenient and easy to use, it features a removable stainless-steel platform. Also important if you’re on a diet…sigh.
Day #9 – Cuisinart Smart Stick Immersion Blenders (cuisinart.com $29.95)
These stick blenders can puree up a sauce or soup right in the pot they’re in. And how cute are the colors?
Day #10 – Bonjour Turbo Whisk (Williams-Sonoma $29.95)
It’s cordless and this multi-talented tool is a powerful whisk and frother in one. Use it for everything from blending waffle batter and whipping cream to frothing milk for coffee drinks. A smart sensor customizes speeds for the task at hand. Includes dishwasher-safe stainless-steel whisk and frother attachments.
I am on a mixer kick apparently. Someone who shall rename nameless (Lance West) broke my hand mixer that I’ve had for 20 years and I need a new one. Sometimes you just don’t want to haul out the huge KitchenAid. So…
Day #10 – Breville Hand Mixer in red (Williams Sonoma $79.95)
With 16 speeds and a turbo boost function, you can whip up meringues, cookie dough or even stiff gingerbread cookie dough batter with this baby.
Day #11 – I would be remiss if I didn’t offer something Le Creuset ( I always do). Never fear – this cute little Salt Crock ($30 Williams Sonoma) won’t break the bank but still make you a foodie lover’s dream.
I currently keep a Le Creuset red ramekin on my stove top with kosher salt for cooking. These salt crocks, better known as salt pigs, are made just for this purpose.
Day #12 – The Breville Barista Express (Chef’s Catalog $599)
With its integrated conical burr grinder and dosing control, this baby helps deliver the optimum path for beans to espresso in under a minute, ensuring a smooth and thick crema. The measured dose is delivered straight into the coffee filter to maximize luscious crema with every extraction.
Day #11 – Place Tile Dry Erase Place Settings (OpenSky with Lulu Towers $30)
Entertain often like we do? Remake your menu and name cards quickly and prettily with these redo ceramic plate tiles! Don’t use place cards? They’d be great also for labeling things like “Sweet Tea” and “Unsweet Tea” or what various dips are.
Day #12 Lida’s Italy in America cookbook (Amazon $20)
Famed Italian cook Lidia Bastianich has traveled around America visiting Italian American communities and brings us a collection of Italian-American dishes to fix in our home. Come to think of it, I’ll take one of her original cookbooks (Lidia’s Italy) as I’d love to see her authentic Italian dishes as well!
So there you have it folks, another Christmas Wish List from the Dishin and Dishes kitchen. These are a few of the things I dream about having for my kitchen.
