12 Days of Foodie Christmas Wish List 2010

December 2, 2010Katie

It’s that MOST happiest time… of the year.

Yes that’s right. It’s the Dishin & Dishes 12 Days of Foodie Christmas Wish List time.

Who says our kids are the only ones who can make lists?

Cuz if you’re a Foodie…

You have a list.

If not, you may have a foodie friend and need an idea.

Let me share mine with you.  Click on any picture to see where you can get the item.

First off…returning from last year’s list.

Day #1 – The KitchenAid beater blade attachment for my stand mixer ($24.95, or depending on model).  Returning cuz…well, I didn’t get it!

This beater blade will scrape the sides of the bowl for you. Amazing!

Now KitchenAid is a little tricky on their mixer attachments…you have to know what model and quart size the bowl is you’re using.  For instance, mine is a 4.5 quart bowl, so you have to know what mixer size you need.

Day #2 – I truly want this cookbook.  In Williams Sonoma stores ($24.75) or on Amazon.com

I’m a huge fan of Jamie and his simple rustic cooking.  This cookbook may seem basic to some, but the way the man puts together ingredients, along with tips for gardening at home…well, in the words of Jamie…

Brilliant!

Day #3 – I love these Quilting Circle Napkins from Anthropology ($6).

Day #4 – If this were a true wish list, I’d want these.

All-Clad d5 Brushed Stainless Steel Professional 10-Piece Cookware Set on sale at $899.

However, since that’s probably a bit out of anyone’s price range, …I’ll settle for this.

11 Pc. Tri-Ply Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Set  from Sam’s Wholesale ($139.00).

Day #5 – I’ve always loved cheeses of all sorts and I adore these pedestals to serve them on from Pottery Barn ($29-$29)

Day #6 – And to go along with them, how about these Porcelain Cheese Markers as well from Pottery Barn ($19 for set of 4)?

Day #7 – SmartPower® Deluxe™ Blender ($79.95)

I’d love a Vitamix…but pretty sure if I told Mr. Wonderful they cost upwards of $500, he’d laugh himself silly.

Day#8 – Fumee de Sel – Chardonnay Oak Smoked Fleur De Sel – by Le Tresor ($16.99)

A great finishing salt …sigh.

Day #9 – Food & Wine magazine ($16.99/12 months).  Mostly because I think I get every other one.

I’ve been browsing through this of late and really like what I see.

Day #10 – A set of Lodge Logic  5 Inch Miniature Skillets ($5/each).

These cute skillets measure five inches across in diameter and would be great to fix individual breakfasts or smaller dishes in.  I LOVE me some cast iron these days.  It’s become my favorite pan in the kitchen.

Day #11 – Taylor Digital Measuring Cup Scale ($34.95)

All good bakers know you should bake by weight and not by measuring.  Since I bought Ratio by Michael Ruhlman, I’m in need of a good digital scale, but this one seems to be a good shortcut! It also weighs wet and dry ingredients together.

Day #12 – Magic Dough Pastry Mat (Bed Bath and Beyond $19.99)

This mat can be used for rolling out any kind of dough and is stick-free and needs no flour dusting.  It has a non-slip backing and measurement equivalents printed right on the mat in both English and metric. Need to roll an 8 inch pie crust?  Just use the template on the mat!

Day #13 What? I’m on 13..and I’m counting as a BAKER’S DOZEN okay?

The Kitchenaid Pasta Roller Attachment Set ($150) Williams-Sonoma.

I’ve debated about whether I truly want the cutters or just the rollers (A mere $60).

I’d settle for either.

Bonus round? New Year’s Day gift – Viv Martini Glasses ($3.95) Crate & Barrel

Classic martini glasses…I don’t really care much for martini’s..but they have other uses.

Are you a foodie?  Or maybe you’re just starting to cook…what do you wish for this Christmas?  Leave a comment below and tell me!

I didn't even KNOW about that beater blade attachment! I've needed that forever. And the pasta attachment has been on my list for as long as I can remember. Maybe that will be one of "Santa's" gifts to me. GREAT list!

Great list. I've been dying to try out that mixer blade. My wish...I want the truffle fairy to come and leave some real truffles in my kitchen. I don't want to know how much they are worth because I want to use them with wild abandon. I've never cooked with truffles before and I'd love to see what it is all about. I also want a bottle of Aceto de Monticello Balsamic Vinegar which costs about 150 bucks a bottle and which I am far too cheap to ever purchase for myself. I love the list. This is fun. I could probably go on forever.

Kelly - I didn't know what the big deal was with truffles either until I tasted a truffled mayo on a lamb burger recently and almost died of happiness! Wow - I'll have to check out that vinegar!
